Introducing Media Factory’s newest publication ‘COMIC GENE‘
COMIC GENE ISSUE 09/11
HELLO EVERYONE! Ok, that sounds like a corny opening greeting doesn’t it? I reckon that I’m losing my touch due to being absent from tBPII intermittently. The reason for this post? (Like, do I ever need one?) There is a new manga magazine publication in town and it is Media Factory‘s latest effort in bringing more new manga titles to mangadom. The first issue of Comic Gene was launched and released back in June 15. It is a monthly publication which is currently on my trial subscription. That means you’ll be seeing snippets from Comic Gene on top of the other manga mags, starting with the September issue.
So far, I am impress with the titles on offer which means I may continue subscribing beyond the 6 months trial period. Having said that, I’ll drop Avarus and decide to retain Gfantasy. ‘Toxic‘ is likely to come to an end soon and it is one of deciding factor for me to not continue with Avarus subscription. I didn’t find the new series as enticing as the ones that had ended in the past year thus it made sense to stop. I suppose I’m glad Comic Gene came along. There are several scanlation groups expressing interests in scanlating the manga titles from Comic Gene. Therefore, manga fans won’t have too long to wait for English translation of the chosen or selected series to pop up in the foreseeable future. ONWARDS TO THE SNIPPETS
As much as I like to showcase teasers from every single title that CG publishes, I’m obviously not going to do that. Instead, we’ll have a quick run down of the more notable ones that I like (and I’m sure manga fandom would be interested in). Short and sweet, I’d say. Enjoy!

As can be seen on the front cover of CG’s August issue, Kairi Shimotsuki’s manga ‘BRAVE 10‘ is getting a TV anime and the anime website is now up. Guess who’ll be voicing Kirigakure Saizo? It made me even more curious about the anime now that I know the main voice cast. ^_^
More promo to hype the upcoming anime production
Brave 10 Spiral is actually a continuation of Shimotsuki’s original manga of the same name…without the ‘S’. I love her art and the manga is actually hilarious in parts.

Ah, no other interesting series in Avarus aside from Toxic? Wait, Ilegenes 2 and Number already ended? O_O I think they’re the only ones left which I follow in Avarus, ahaha.

xD Lucky Dog and Servamp were both in the issue. I just did pick them for snips. I’m not into Servamp as much as Grimoire which turns out to be more interesting of the two. As for Lucky Dog, it is already getting popular since it is adapted from a game. The others deserved to be highlighted more, me thinks. Hehehe…
Oh yes, the 3 new additions are awesome….esp Mephisto and Card Master which already has a volume out. It should be good to have them scanlated as well as Malicious:Code which is a mix of futuristic sci-fi and drama.

Wow! Lots of them look awesome, I’m glad you found some time to scan the pics.^^ I’m most delighted at Shinkai’s new work though I haven’t seen the movie yet. From the teaser I feel the graphic grew more similar to Miyazaki’s works but I preferred Shinkai’s peculiar works like The Place Promosed in Our Early Days and 5 cm per second. Oh well this post is not about Shinkai, right?^^
Hope to see some of these manga scanlated in the near future. 😀

I’m glad I managed to share those snippets as well since I found available time to do them.
I love the manga adaptation of Shinkai’s movie. It is a sad, tragic tale of separation between siblings. Yeah, I have seen Shinkai’s earlier works and loved it for his story telling and gorgeous graphics.
You won’t have too long to wait for some of them to get scanlated. There groups picking them up already. Lucky Dog 1Blast is already being fan scanlated and released. More titles coming soon.
