I haven’t done a music post in a while due to time constraint of my closet pursuit. However, I still enjoy sifting through the pile of ani-singles releases that I’ve gotten hold off, in my limited leisure hours. It’s unfortunate that some of them would not be covered here like what I used to do previously, not that people would read my boring old gab or bias fan-girl comments…xDDD
Anyway, I decided to post these bundle of recent July releases which are mostly from the current Summer anime that I managed to watch…except for err…the ‘Pokemon’ one. But because it’s Sukima Switch, the single earned my listening attention. *LOL* On the same note, Fairy Tail’s 4th ED gets a listen here as well even though it’s not a Summer anime.
Which will be your *Anison* picks of this Summer? Whatever your choice is/are, I hope you will enjoy them!
::Bungaku Shojo Memoire OVA Intro Theme::
I like CooRie’s Bungaku Shoujo OVA theme ‘Muso Teien’ just as much as the theatrical movie theme ‘Harukana Hibi’ by Eufonius. It has that nice breezy sort of feel to its melody, light and relaxing. ‘Like a Music’, track 2 is slightly upbeat but exudes a similar appeal as the titular track. An enjoyable single, this one.Vodpod videos no longer available.

::Theatrical Anime ‘Pokemon Diamond Pearl – Genei no Hasha Zoroark’ Theme::
Sukima Switch’s ‘Ice Cream Syndrome’ has a catchy melody that got me hook at first listen. It’s quite a laid back, mid tempo song with an acoustic sound which I really enjoy listening to. I’m surprise that it’s the theme song for a new Pokemon movie. *LOL* The other two side tracks i.e ‘Yuunagi’ and ‘1017 Shousetsu no Love Song’ are worth listening to. ‘Yuunagi’ sounds like a Beatles inspired song with the arrangement and vocals giving out that retro sound whereas ‘1017 Shousetsu no Love Song’ is a slower, sentimental number that’s got a nice jazzy piano. Awesome listen.Vodpod videos no longer available.

::Nurarihyon no Mago OP::
Ok, this isn’t really a single release but an album release from Monkey Majik which included the OP theme to TV Anime ‘Nurarihyon no Mago’ called ‘Fast Forward’. It is also one of the 3 brand new songs featured on Monkey Majik’s Best of album. ‘Fast Forward’ is another OP theme that I like and listen to quite a fair bit. It’s so vibrant and catchy, with a great melody that makes you want to sing along. Sometimes, one needs a lively beat to get going and put one in a great mood.Vodpod videos no longer available.

::Densetsu no Yusha no Densetsu OP::
Densetsu happens to be one of my favourite anime airing this Summer. Aira Yuuki’s ‘Lament’ captures that fantasy, adventure vibe of the show with it’s dramatic orchestration. Not exactly my favourite song from Aira Yuuki though. I prefer her ‘Tears to Tiara’ contributions. Track 2 ‘Reine du Lace’ is a rather nice, mid tempo ballad that’s very different from the first track. Love her vocals here.Vodpod videos no longer available.

::Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin ED::
V.A turned singer Ayahi Takagaki fared quite well with Occult Academy’s ED theme song ‘Kimi Ga Iru Basho’. She can sing and has a non too bad singing voice to boot. Anyway, ‘Kimi Ga Iru Basho’ is one of my favourite ED song from yet another favourite Summer series. Track 2 ‘Watashi Dake no Sora’ is a slow ballad which is one of those generic, average pop number. Ayahi’s vocals didn’t really stand out here. It feels a little force somehow. ED theme wins.Vodpod videos no longer available.

::Amagami SS OP::
Amagami’s OP song ‘i Love’ from Azusa is surprisingly quite a pleasant listen. There’s something about the pop-jazz beat that I like. Can’t describe it but it’s there. Gave me a nice feeling while listening to it. ‘Tanjun Meikai’, the side track carries a similar jazz-pop vibe albeit more lively. I like the light acoustic sound it has in the arrangement. Enjoyable. The single ends with a sweet sounding, mid-tempo pop ballad but it’s unfortunate Azusa’s voice didn’t carry it all that well. She sounded a little out of range especially on one the chorus section. Still, ‘i Love’ the single is worth a listen.Vodpod videos no longer available.

::Amagami SS ED1::
‘Kimi no Hitomi ni Koi Shiteru’ is just one of the several ED songs planned for TV anime ‘Amagami SS’ and well, I don’t really like Haruka’s character. Her ED song didn’t impress me much at all. Fortunately, I have a very different opinion of the OST. Toshiyuki Omori’s compositions certainly caught my ears and I’m looking forward to hearing more of the OST after sampling the inclusion of the two bgm tracks on Disc 2 of the OP single.Vodpod videos no longer available.

::Seitokai Yakuindomo OP::
While ‘Yamato Nadeshiko Education’ may be a fitting intro theme for the comical anime series, I’m not really a fan of it. It sounded like so many cutesy OP themes that are out there. Meh!Vodpod videos no longer available.

::Fairy Tail ED4::
Shimokawa Mikuni’s new single ‘Kimi ga Iru Kara’ also features Fairy Tale’s 4th ED theme of the same title. I thought the song is reminiscent of the character songs from ‘White Album’ especially with the nostalgic melody.Vodpod videos no longer available.

::Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi OP::
Last but not least, the OP song for ‘Ookami-san’ from May’n titled ‘Ready Go!. I like the song’s opening bits that leads to the first verse. Another very upbeat, high energy song from May’n. I still can’t shake off the Sheryl Nome vibe each time I hear May’n sings. But yeah, Ready Go! is one of her better songs away from the Macross Frontier sphere. The side track ‘Anemone’ has an interesting sound as well, sort of a mix of the classic, Japanese retro pop sound with current pop-rock beats. Cool!Vodpod videos no longer available.
