tBP’s Manga Digest is back with the 8th Issues of both Jump SQ and Comic Blade Avarus!
Shounen Mangazine Jump SQ is heavily pimping Ono Fuyumi’s Shiki which is adapted into an anime that is currently airing on Fuji TV. The August cover featured Natsuno Yuki, one of the main characters from Shiki. Shiki’s latest chapter gets a cover page in colour too. As there are anime viewers who does not want to be spoiled by the manga, I’ll avoid giving snippets of the latest chapter. 😛
The other manga that’s getting a colour page is Kentaro Katayama’s ‘Kurenai‘. That’s also because the latest tankoubon volume is recently released along with a special OVA episode. I’ve watched the OVA and it is quite funny actually. Very summery atmosphere.
Ao no Exorcist is also getting special attention with a double page colour spread. Volume 4 of the manga is out earlier this month.
The other manga series I’m currently following in Jump SQ is Tegami Bachi and D.Gray-man. Gauche is back as a Bee but for how long?! There’s a cute *awww* moment between Gauche and Lag in the aftermath of the battle with a gaichu. As for DGM, Hoshino Katsura’s art in the latest chapter has gone pretty wild. The current arc mirrors her art…confusing. Guess, I’ll probably chat about the latest chapters separately.
The August issue of Shoujo Mangazine Comic Blade Avarus brought with it 2 brand new manga titles while another one comes to an end. There were 3 new series starting off in the July issue which I haven’t featured on here but you can check them out at the official website.
Ilegenes -Kokuyou no Kiseki by Kuwabara Mizuna wraps up with its last chapter in this issue. The final tankoubon volume (i.e Vol.5) will be released on Nov-15. So I guess, we have to say farewell to Fon, Jacques and gang. If anyone has read the novels, you’ll probably know that the journey continues on. Fon will get what he wants in the end.
On the other hand, I’m actually excited about the new manga title taking Ilegenes place. I’m talking about ‘Toxic‘, the new series by Ryo Takahashi. I’m fan of Takahashi’s previous work which was a one-shot manga adaption of Founder Masaki’s 12 Nin no Yasashii Koroshiya: Leo Murder Case. For starters, Toxic seems to have a military setting much like Ilegenes. The debut chapter which incidentally came out in the July issue, looked interesting and the 2nd Chapter intrigued me even further.
Another new manga which I think has an interesting premise is ‘Coda‘ by Hitoshi Ichimura. The story centers around a young boy who dreams of being a ballet dancer. At some point, cross-dressing will come into play because the little boy isn’t going to be just any ballet dancer…but a ballerina to be precise. xD
Sakaime no Sumika is the other new title that debut its first chapter in this issue. The mangaka is Shigura Matsu. I find the illustrations a bit sketchy (for want of a better word) and it doesn’t engage me at first look. Might just check out the next couple of chapters to see how the plot/story develops.
Kemuri Karakara’s Countdown 7 Days is another 2010 manga pick that I like. I love the art. The plot is interesting as are the characters particularly our megane protagonist, Mitamura. He got pawned pretty badly in the latest chapter but he’s still a wily strategist. Volume 3 of the manga is coming out on Aug-10.
Thus this leads me to some major spoiler pics from Chapter 54. It was revealed that Akira is Ryuko’s reincarnation and we’ve been getting flashback/ backstory of the four Kings of the shadow world in the past two chapters which eventually leads to the current chapter and how Ryuko was murdered.
Monochrome Factor’s Volume 9 – Yes I have it too
And since I love Ryo Takahashi‘s one shot manga ‘12 Nin no Yasashii Koroshiya: Leo Murder Case‘, I thought I share some scans from Volume 2.
