Fullmetal Alchemist ED5 – Ray of Light by Shoko Nakagawa

Music Post!

Golly! Tis be my first music post in like months and months. Bringing me back to the fore is Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood’s 5th outro theme single ‘Ray of Light’ by Shoko Nakagawa.

CD Jacket – The Fullmetal Edition

CD Title: Ray of Light
Artist: Shoko Nakagawa
Release Date: 28-Apr-2010

Ray of Light‘ is 5th ED for continuing anime series ‘Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood’. It is also Shoko Nakagawa‘s 11th single release to date. I must say that the theme is becoming one of my favourite FMA EDs, better than ‘Let it Out’. I like how they incorporate the song to fade out the last several episodes and it fitted so well with the cliffhanger scenes. Most of it has to do with the feel of the song and arrangement which seemed appropriate for the anime that is going into its final stretch.

The other two vocal songs on the cd is track 2 ‘Diamond high‘ and track 3 ‘Calling Location ~Live Version‘. ‘Diamond high’ is actually worth listening to. It’s a catchy, upbeat pop-rock number with Shoko’s lively vocals that just make you want to get up on stage and jump around when the singer is singing the song. Ya, I kid….you not! 😆 Happy listening!

  1. The slower tempo does a good job of allowing for that easy segue out of the anime. It also helps that the beginning is soft for that good dab of introspective-inducing mood before moving into the chorus which is decently emphatic in wanting to reach that goal. Probably not going to hit into my favorites list, but it’s good all-around.

Indeed, I like it better than Miho Fukuhara’s Let it Out which took me sometime to get use to. I find it too ‘Pop’ oriented as an ending for FMA. Ray of Light works out much better. 🙂
