CD Single – Miyano Mamoru’s REFRAIN

Music Post!

Ayu is posting this cos it’s a new single from Miyano Mamoru and she likes it. (n_n)

CD Title: Miyano Mamoru
Release Date: 21-Oct-2009

Refrain MV:

Hat…Mamo-kun…Hat…Mamo-Kun…Hat’s gotta go. Mamo-kun’s better off w/o hat.

‘Refrain’ is Miyano’s 4th single to date and include two ballads and a pop-rock track which is an intro theme of the PSP Otome Game ‘Uta no Prince-sama’.

The titular song ‘Refrain‘ is a broody moody ballad that is composed by producer-songwriter Jin Nakamura with lyrics penned by Miyano. I love the beautiful melody that suits his voice so well. I’ve always like Miyano singing ballads because I think he comes off better doing slower numbers as it showcased his softer vocals much better than when he’s doing faster ones. I wonder if the song title ‘refrain’ was influenced by his involvement with music themed anime ‘Kiniro no Corda’.

Track 2 is a sentimental piano-based ballad titled ‘toroimerai‘ that’s lighter in tone. I love the playful twinkling melody of the piano arrangement that complements Miyano’s falsetto vocals. On the other hand, ‘Ao no Tsubasa‘ which is the second filler track on the single, didn’t appeal to me all that much. It is used as the opening theme of the PSP Otome Game ‘Uta no Prince-sama’ and is a slightly rocky upbeat number. The arrangement is a little cheesy too.  Somehow, I just don’t find his voice suits a rock themed song. It just didn’t have that edgy feel. Still, two out of three is win. xD
