Pandora Hearts Episode 12 – Welcome the Labyrinth (鏡の国)
How the arm wrestling idea came about? Oz goes straight to the point 😆
Quick recap and impressions:
It’s more like welcome to Cheshire’s lair. This is lovably funny episode for the first half and then turn dark and moody in the second half. So, it’s an episode of two halves. The comical first half sees Oz, Gil and Alice trying to get back Gil’s precious hat from a trio of tricksters. Oz came up with the idea of an arm wrestling contest in which the winning team gets the hat. His little plan was that if he and Gil gets to own the first two matches, then they’ll win without having Alice to take part. But nyah, that game plan was spoiled by Uncle Oscar’s sparkly unannounced entry as a competitor in the ruffian’s team, lol. He pretty much scared Gil into losing his match with all that pervy sparkles. Oz match was the funniest and I think he went gay on the opponent…*rofl*. So in the end, it was up to Alice and B-rabbit’s power to get Gil’s hat back. Why is the hat so damn important to Gil? If you read the manga, you’d know. We’ve to wait several more episodes before we get to that part of the manga in the anime.
The second half sees how Alice and Break was lured into Cheshire Cat’s dimension. Break is always funny but he gets all serious as the second half progresses. I love the cute interactions between Break and Alice. Alice is so tsundere here. It was here that Alice discovers a piece of her memory and seem to recall the figure of a person she was closed to but can never see his face. Meanwhile Break got separated from Alice and was suck into another part of Cheshire’s domain by a mirror image of his past self. Why was Break so keen on confronting Cheshire? It obviously is connected to the memories of 100 years ago. Oz and Gil sought out Sharon’s help in finding Break and Alice after Oz found Emily and Alice’s bag of apples on a deserted street. Sharon opens up a portal using her chain Eques to transport Oz and Gil to Cheshire’s realm. Vincent on the other hand, got wind of what Break may be up to and is about to enter the fray himself. @_@ at Vincent for going all pervy and pedo at Echo. He’s still hot though. 😛 Back in Cheshire’s realm, the cat is about to pounce on his weary prey.
Another great episode. Cheshire’s realm is kind of clownish and colourful though. It has a very ‘Alice in Wonderland’ feel. I like how the episode began with the humourous parts and gradually descended into the more moody second half. Seeing Alice being insecure all of a sudden shows the human side of her that’s quite rare. Oz reaction towards meeting Uncle Oscar was underwhelming. One would expect him to be more enthusiastic. It was like he didn’t want to face his Uncle after what happened 10 yrs ago. He never asked about his family after he came back from the abyss. It appears like a part of him simply gave up and never wanting to approach his family again. Sad child. Taking it out on himself isn’t going to stop others from worrying. Vincent surely has a sinister agenda of his own especially as he’s now seen to be associating with the Baskervilles. Can’t wait for the next installment because this series just keeps getting better and better.
Alice is like ‘Haha, you losers! Let me show you how it’s done.’ That is until she realized she needs B-Rabbit’s power. Wham, Gil’s quick touch won them the match and Gil’s precious hat. XDDD
