Sengoku Basara OP Single – JAP by Abingdon Boys School

Music Post!

Woohoo! Sengoku Basara’s OP Single ‘JAP’ is out.

Nishikawa Takanori and the rest of ABS is back with a brand new single called ‘JAP’. Most fans would know by now that ‘JAP’ is featured as the main intro theme for TV anime ‘Sengoku Basara’. The TV cut is accompanied by a funky and amusing opening animation sequence with dancing soldiers 😆 I love how they time the sequence with the song.

Of course, I like JAP. It’s even better than ‘Strength’, their previous single. The song is a fun, rousing rock number with some crazy electro-synth and guitar solo, not to mention catchy chorus and infectious melody. Takanori’s singing is full of energy, peppered with Engrish words. Brings to mind Date Masamune’s ‘Let’s go boys’. 😛 I can imagine him singing the line ‘I’m gonna live out my life untamed’.

The second track on the single is called ‘Valkyrie’ and is an English song penned by Takanori and Kishi Toshiyuki. It’s another fast electro-rock fusion number that I mistakenly thought as a rock instrumental because of it’s long opening intro. The track is somehow reminiscent of T.M Revolution’s music which happens to be Takanori’s pet solo project. So yeah, all in all a fun single from ABS.
