Yay! Ristorante Paradiso or Rispara (as I shall call it) is the new Spring 2009 anime that caught my interest….enough to want to capture it at present. I’m posting Episodes 1 and 2 together since they’ve already aired and I took my time to watch the two episodes again.
Episode 1: Nicoletta
Happy Birthday Madame!
I really love the art in Rispara, from the background scapes to the interesting character designs (love the variety of facial expressions…esp. interesting mouths) and the muted colour schemes. The bgm is wonderful as it creates the right mood and atmosphere for the different scenes it is used in. The OP and ED are hits with me. Even the voice acting works well.
Ah, the characters…what a quirky bunch of people. Already, we’re beginning to see the differences in each character that we were introduced to in the first episode. The lead character, Nicoletta managed to amuse and annoy me at the same time. She’s quite stubborn and strong-willed but also appears to be naive about certain things. I laughed at Nicoletta’s roving eyes being around such a group of elderly gentlemen. Apparently, she has a peculiar taste for oji-sama type and she’s already going ga-ga over Claudio. What a dangerous young woman. Poor Claudio I’d say.😛
But it’s Olga that interest me the most in this episode. I just wondered what made her do the things she did. What’s the real reason in not wanting her hubby to learn about her past…that she was married and had a daughter?! It can’t be just because he didn’t want to marry a divorcee. She hardly saw her daughter after she left. Lorenzo doesn’t seem like an unkind person anyway. It’s also freaky that Olga made all those guys at the restaurant wore glasses. Weird fetish or what? I suppose we’ll see how the drama between her and Nicoletta pans out in the coming episodes. Overall, a charming fab first episode for Rispara.
