Single Review – An Cafe’s AROMA

Music Post!

This is An Cafe’s 16th Single or so. I like it a lot better than their EP ‘Koakuma Usagi no Koibumi to Machine Gun’ released back in October 2008. The songs on that EP were a little too wacky and zany for my taste. It’s like they’re trying to experiment with a few different musical styles on one track…just sounds a wee bit weird to me. But An Cafe are back to their mod rock style on their latest single and they sound so much better too. AROMA starts off with punchy guitars and synth. It’s a lively track with fast dancy rock beats and Miku sounds fantastic, not so over the top as before. The B-side track ‘Best Apart’ is actually a nice mid-tempo pop-rock ballad, a departure from the rocking AROMA, showing the band’s softer side. The 3rd track is another pop-rock number, also less rocky than the title track. I thought it sounds like a theme song to a tv drama or anime series. It has that kind of vibe to it.  Verdict, this single is alot more grounded which makes it much more listenable than their previous release plus AROMA is a great opener of a song.
