I finally caught up with the last two episodes of VKG. First up is my rambling impressions of episode 12. Then it’s followed by the final episode (13) on the next page.
The Kuran ancestor definitely looks like an older version of Kaname. Yup, the dreary world would certainly look interesting through Yuuki’s eyes especially if they are as huge and round as saucers…lol. I mean it’s quite a wide angle view really…hehe.
Once again, we get some more anime-only scenes added to this episode as things get shuffle here and there to intensify the unraveling plot. Yuuki’s characterization though is rather lame and weak. She’s fallen into a damsel-in-distress role here and we only get to see her wield the transformed Artemis ever so briefly and even then, she wasn’t a convincing heroine nor is she a goddess. So yeah, I am not impress with her character in this bloody episode. Rido on the other hand, is deliciously a lot more exciting to watch as he went on his blood sucking spree to gain more strength and showing off his blood tentacles, testing out his regained powers on Yuuki and her Night Class guardians . Even more impressive is the Chairman, Kaien Cross who gets his moment to shine as an ace ex-vampire hunter going all out to defend his school from getting over run by an army of Level E vampires.
Another disappointing scene is the way the Association’s president got his due. That was so ridiculously unconvincing somehow and doesn’t quite fit into the grand scheme of the unfolding events. How vain is this bloke anyway? He should have died by Kaien’s sword which is much more justified (imo). Zero’s power up is as expected except for that ‘almost Hulk bulge’ shoulder moment…that was totally weird, so much so it was actually amusing and detract from the suspense the scene was trying to convey. I also thought the Night Class was made to look idiotic when they rush headlong to fight Rido…don’t they know they can’t fight purebloods who has the ability to control and subdue noble vampires? Aidou asking ‘why’ and the others wondering ‘what’s happening?’ means that they learn nothing from their private tutor lecturing them on lessons about vampires and their hierarchy all those years ago. It’s hard to enjoy the show when you have loop holes like that crop up and made you go ‘wtf’ was that about…you know. Oh well…let’s see if the finale could be better.
No Yuuki. Getting yourself attack by Level E vampires isn’t going to help protect the school. Seriously, Yuuki needs to understand that she can’t fight when she hasn’t regain her full vampire powers. Once again, Aidou and gang to the rescue, reprimanding Yuuki for her carelessness. Ruka certainly wasn’t happy with her lack of responsibility. But Aidou being a loyal Kaname supporter is much more considerate towards Yuuki seeing as she has only recently been awaken. I think that Ruka and Cain makes a lovely couple. Now if only Ruka would pay more attention to Cain who obviously likes her more than a friend.
Yup Yagari, I think you need a sword like Kurosu Kaien who happens to single-handedly pawns all the level E vampires. Such a heroic fit too. Zero’s starting to power up after absorbing the other half (Ichiru) of the twin’s powers completing his transformation. Yes, yes…everything is going according to Kaname’s plan. Is Kaname upset that the one part he didn’t foresee in his plan is Zero drinking Yuuki’s blood? The guy is still moaning about it and yet he’s about to have it all his way.
HA President to Ichiou: “Well, you said that we made such a pretty pair.”
Ichiou to HA President: “You’re so vain. You think this episode is about you, don’t you?!” *TWIST & CRACKS* Sayonara and Good Riddance!!!
Rido sits atop a pile of bodies awaiting the arrival of a much tastier meal. Well what do you know? Yuuki and gang walks in and present themselves as his prime dinner, one that he’s been craving to sample after all those junk he ate. How nice! And Yuuki is the choiciest of the lot…scream Yuuki scream…for she’s feeling icky after all that licking from Rido. Fortunately for her, Zero drops in on cue to save her from further embarrassment of becoming the next victim of Rido’s smexy fangs.
My, my…Kaname made such lovely colourful sparklies out of Ichiou’s guards. Ichiou’s feeling Kaname’s death vibes and is trying to scurry away by blinding Kaname with a magic show of light. Kaname is saved from having to do Ichiou in himself. Instead, Takuma volunteered to do it in his stead. Poor Takuma. Of all the other noble Night Class vampires, he’s the one in the most unenviable position. Takuma and his katana looks cool though. One of Kaname’s awesome powers includes bringing down an entire building. I wonder if he cares or not that Takuma may be caught in the collapsing building or he expected Takuma’s death.
Up next, episode 13 (FIN) on page 2….
