Snippets round-up from Asuka May edition!

This is a rather belated update but here’s my Asuka May issue snippets roundup. I skipped Uraboku because I already posted the chapter teasers up some weeks back. There are two new manga titles appearing in the May publication. That’s ‘Messiah’ and ‘Ouji wa Tadaima Dekasegi Chuu’. Messiah’s 1st chapter looks interestingly dark where as ‘Ouji’ has a comedy appeal. Best chapter progression goes to ‘The Conductor’. It just keeps getting better and better. After all the suspense build-up, a tragic consequence finally happens. Volume 3 is out this month i.e. Apr-26. Interested peeps can order it here.  There’s this other special omake booklet that came with this issue that I’ll probably put up on my LJ site. Be sure to check that out later. What do you know, time flies by so quickly that we are approaching the end of April and Asuka’s June issue is already on its way to me. Hopefully, I won’t be this late with an update of the new issue. Till then, enjoy!

I’m pleasantly surprised by the ‘Are You Alice? Anthology’ series. It’s the first time I took a dive and check out what the collection is all about. I never expected one (let alone 3) had been released to date since the manga itself has just 3 volumes out. However, the first two were released by DNA Comics and the latest one is released by Zero-Sum. Nonetheless, I was curious enough to get the Z-Sum anthology volume myself and didn’t regret it at all. The short adaptations by participating mangakas were really spot on and hilarious. Also out at the end of Feb is Ayahatori Shoukanjou’s 3rd volume. As usual, the cover illustration is rather nice. Anyway, enough gabbing. Check out the picspam ahead!

Mag Updates: Asuka Issue 04/11

I actually meant to put this up earlier but with the terrible consequences transpiring from the aftermath of the natural twin disasters that hit Japan on Friday 11-Mar, I’ve been anxiously following updates of the situation over there since then. I’m relieve to know that those I’m acquainted with are accounted for, albeit more than a tad *shaken* up. But yes, let us do what we can in our own little way to help get those affected get back up on their feet again.

I like to share this drawing by Yana Toboso which she posted on twitter. Simple and hopeful message but it works.

Two things excite me from this issue of ASUKA; the return of ‘Trinity Blood ~rubor‘ and new manga adaptation of ‘Tale of Genji‘ aka ‘Genji Monogatari‘. Miyagi Tooko’s art for Genji is gorgeous. I look forward to seeing more of the adaptation in the coming issues.

Manga Title: Ayahatori Shoukanjou – あやはとり召喚帖

::Synopsis::

“Ayahatori” is the name accorded to the family that possess a special and uncanny mystical power with the ability to summon people and beings from ancient secret text and use them as familiars. During an “Ayahatori” initiation ceremony, teen-aged schooler “Kozakura Saaya” is suppose to summon one of the three most beautiful women in the world, Ono no Komachi. However, much to her surprise and all those in attendance, what appears in front of her is a not a woman but a beautiful young man.

tBP’s Manga Digest! featuring Gekkan ASUKA Issue 11

The November issue of Asuka is here at last. Fans of ‘Uraboku’ (Uragiri wa Boku no Namae wo Shitteiru) will be squeeing with joy to know that the manga is back with a new chapter (40) in this issue. The chapter comes with a double page colour spread. Uraboku’s Volume 8 will be released on Oct-26 with Hotsuma and Shusei gracing the cover. As for the other manga titles in this issue, Manabu Kaminaga’s ‘The Conductor‘ gets an extra long chapter with 60 pages. ‘Ayahatori Shoukanjo‘ gets a double-page colour spread and will have its 2nd Volume release on Oct-26 (same day as Uraboku). A new manga by Hirotaka Kisaragi titled ‘Seiyu-Ichi Nensei‘ debut its first chapter as well. That is just some of the snippets from the November Issue. Enjoy!

Well, my updates from Asuka gets a delayed posting although I got the mag much earlier than Zero-Sum. I thought of waiting even further, at least until the next issue of Comic Blade Avarus which will be out this week. But I’m too buzzing busy so that might not even make the cut on tBP. I’ve a number of projects pending my attention which will prevent me from sharing snippets like I’m wont to do. Anyway, there aren’t that many *spoils* this time round. Instead, I’ll just share my picks of what I thought are interesting from my point of view. In case Uraboku fans are wondering, the manga is still on hiatus and will ‘probably’ be back in the Nov issue. Why did I say probably? Cos it’s been rather unpredictable, just like me. Enjoy what you get!
