School Food Punishment is back with their 4th single release and they return to contribute the theme song for ‘Eden of the East Movie 1 – The King of Eden‘, which is currently playing in theaters across Japan.
Doesn’t Akira look like Morita with that festive beanie on?
And in celebration of his return to the screen, there’s nothing more fitting than listening to his theme…yup, it’s the ‘Naked Prince’.
CD Title: Light Prayer
Artist: school food punishment
Release Date: 2-Dec-2009
Light Prayer is the title of School Food Punishment‘s latest single. The titular song is also used as the theme of Higashi no Eden’s first theatrical release i.e. ‘The King of Eden’. Fans of the TV series would recall that the band also sang the ED theme ‘futuristic imagination‘.
So, how does ‘Light Prayer’ fair against the band’s first Eden contribution? Well, if you watched the short movie trailer on Eden’s official website, you would have caught a tiny snippet of the new song playing in the background. Now that the single is out, you get a chance to hear the complete track. It’s a punchy electro pop-rock driven song with lots of frenzy synth sounds. The melody is quite catchy, much like its predecessor. I think I like this a bit more than ‘futuristic imagination’. If you like a heavy, edgier song from the band, look no further than track 2 ‘Deviswitch‘. It’s definitely rockier and more hard hitting than the titular track. What failed me is track 3, the ‘Engrish’ version of their 3rd single ‘sea-through communication‘, complete with light orchestral arrangement. Yumi should just stick to singing in Japanese.
Until the rest of us can watch the movie, I guess we’ll have to be content with the theme song single or the ost for now.
