Episode 6: The Fake Lover 偽りの恋人

Impressions:
I just got round to watching episode 6. The pace slowed down this time because I was expecting that they’ll squeeze in the Rido/Shiki and Kaname meeting scene but they didn’t. In a way, it was good because the anime has so far been moving a lot faster and we’re near the half way point already. Again, some scenes were changed, like the Yuuki fainting scene which happened in the classroom instead of at the picnic scene with Kaname, the scene with Ichiru holding the vial of Rido’s blood and the added dinner scene with flashbacks of the Kiryuu twins. There’s a lot more Ichiru as we see his intentions and motives little by little being revealed, the night class students acting as Yuuki’s bodyguards because she’s now Kaname’s girlfriend, Yuuki and Kaname picnic moments and towards the end, Ichijou returning to the academy with a devilish looking Shiki. Kaname is fully aware that the ‘other side’ is stepping up their game and moving towards his turf. I’m liking Rido in Shiki’s body because his actions and reactions are so different from the real Shiki. I suppose we’ll get to the ‘uncle and nephew’ meeting scene next week which should be exciting and confrontational at the same time.
On to the screencaps:

Ichiru got called in by the Chairman to meet with Kaname which he seemed to be displeased about. His suspicions led him to ask Kaname if he tries to pull him into his games. Kaname replies that he doesn’t need to as Ichiru himself is already in the game which further irritates Ichiru, prompting him to tell Kaname to be rid of him if he’s not happy with his presence. Ichiru appears bold and hardly fears Kaname, making his character appears interesting here. Kaname reminding the Chairman of the promise made between them concerning the Academy’s establishment and that anything to do with the vampires within the confines of the Academy is Kaname’s responsibility, just made me a tad curious. I’m still wondering what is Cross’s connection with Juuri Kuran as we’re shown his flashback of her carrying a baby which I presumed to be Yuuki. Cross always appears to know more than he lets on.

Yuuki’s nightmares had gotten worse and she’s been lacking sleep because of it. Just so happens that after experiencing one horrible nightmare episode, she went to class and promptly fainted and Zero brought her to the infirmary to rest. Before her fainting incident, she was surprised by the night class students led by Aidou who turns up saying that they’ll be acting as her bodyguard on Kaname’s orders. With a suspicious Aidou standing guard by the infirmary, Ichiru somehow managed to bluff his way in to see Yuuki. He took out a vial that contained Rido’s blood and attempts to give it to Yuuki but stop short after recalling how Zero had suffered and how doing this would affect him. His suspicions got the better of him, Aidou enters the room and saw Ichiru with the vial of blood which he asked him to hand over. The matter was reported to Kaname who decided not to do anything about it and probably figures out what Rido is trying to do. We see poor Ruka sulking in her room, obviously upset at Kaname’s open declaration that Yuuki is his girlfriend.

Yuuki finds it embarrassing to have Aidou and the others escorting her everywhere. She’s wondering why Kaname is doing all these things for her when she’s surprised at the little picnic he’s arranged for them. Yuuki still angsting over the fact that Kaname is hiding something from her and why he keeps avoiding telling her about her missing past. Well, all in due time Yuuki. The truth is coming soon. It must have been painful for Zero to stand there and watch those two interact in such an intimate setting.

Whilst all this is going on, Chairman Cross invited Ichiru to have a family dinner with him, making him help out in the cooking. It made Ichiru recalled the twin’s childhood past and Zero’s favourite dish. Unfortunately, the chairman’s lovely picture of a nice family dinner dissipates when Zero got mad at Ichiru after Yuki lightheartedly revealed how she had mistaken Ichiru for Zero at the infirmary earlier on. Back at the dorm, Ichiru tells Zero that it’ll be better for him to stay away from Yuuki. I get a sense that Ichiru is trying to warn Zero of something and whether or not Zero detects this remains to be seen.

Ah…Shiki’s return. Ichijou is clearly uneasy with the new Shiki especially since his behaviour is drastically different from the real Shiki. The atmosphere suddenly got darker and tense with his arrival at the Academy. Rido is apparently having a mischievous good time using Shiki’s physical body and knows Kaname is anticipating his moves.
@nK Yuuki sensed that Kaname knew something of her missing past and she’s confused as to why he does not want to reveal her past to her. 10 yrs ago, it was Kaname who rescued her. Since that time, she has always loved, trust and believed in Kaname. He was and still is the closest to her and so she feels he’s hiding her past from her. She doesn’t understand why he refuse to tell her at this point and that makes her think what she really means to him. All this angsting and anxieties about her past makes her go a bit mental. She thinks Kaname is just playing games with her when he asked her to be his gf and is not serious in helping her. But of course, we all know that’s further from the truth. Kaname has a humongous reason as to why he refused to tell her anything but all that will soon come to pass…just look out for the next episode i.e.07 and you’ll see why Kaname did what he did.
like right now i’m soo lost with episodes 5&6. like whats so confusing about being kaname’s gf why is yukki so confused, does being kaname’s gf the only way she can find out her past, is that why she’s accepting ( i’m disregarding the fact that she does love him).
sry kinda slow, would anyone mind explaining to me whats happening without spoiling anything. thanks.
